CES 2025: Highlights and Trends

Dermot Connolly, Global Head Business Development

Attendance and Exhibitors
CES 2025 saw a slight uptick in attendee numbers, reporting 141,000 visitors compared to 135,000 in 2024 and 120,000 in 2023. While still below the pre-COVID peak of 180,000, this is a solid turnout, especially given the flat year for the consumer electronics (CE) sector and tighter budgets across brands. Over 4,000 exhibitors participated, showcasing innovation despite industry challenges.

Travel disruptions due to East Coast snowstorms did cause a quieter Tuesday, but overall energy remained high throughout the event.

Challenges and Shifts
Rising costs for booths, accommodation, and other logistics remain a hot topic. Many brands opted for cost-effective alternatives, such as suites in venues like the Venetian or Mirage, offering a more comfortable setting for meetings. Some companies even shared spaces to cut costs.

Market Sentiment and Uncertainty
The show reflected “cautious optimism,” though concerns linger about potential tariffs under the new Trump administration and their impact on China-sourced products. Many brands are exploring backup sourcing strategies to mitigate risks.

Key Trends and Products
The overarching theme this year focused on enhancement of existing products rather than groundbreaking new launches, with AI continuing to play a major role. Noteworthy advancements included:

  • Robotic vacuum cleaners now capable of handling stairs.
  • Magnetic earbuds that attach to phones to prevent loss.
  • A new device charger offering a full charge in just three seconds.

Major product categories included:

  • Smart home tech
  • Home entertainment and cooking solutions
  • Personal health and wellness
  • Energy-saving and sustainability

The continued focus on improving the home environment reflects the ongoing impact of remote working trends.

Unique Products
A few standout innovations included:

  • A toddler’s toothbrush resembling a vibrating gum shield for thorough cleaning.
  • A Sodastream-compatible attachment for personal drink bottles, eliminating the need for separate containers.

CES 2025 reinforced that while the CE sector is navigating challenges, innovation and adaptability remain its driving forces.

It was a pleasure meeting Christophe Jakobuco, CEO of ITSKINS INDUSTRIES, at CES 2025—excited for the innovations ahead!

I also had fantastic meetings with Bart van de Kooij of MINIBREW and Yolanda Wu of Neakasa. Inspiring conversations and exciting ideas—looking forward to what’s next for both teams!
