Lantern Festival

The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month. It marks the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations and is another time for family reunions and joyful gatherings. People celebrate this festival by hanging up lanterns, enjoying delicious rice dumplings, and watching colourful dragon and lion dances.

One of the most iconic symbols of the Lantern Festival is the tangyuan, or you can call it sweet rice dumplings. These sticky rice balls are filled with sweet fillings like peanuts or sesame, are a popular treat during the festival. Eating tangyuan symbolizes family unity and happiness, as the round shape of the dumplings represents completeness and togetherness.

Another highlight of the Lantern Festival is the lantern displays. Intricately designed lanterns of various shapes and sizes are hung up in public spaces, creating a dazzling spectacle of light and color. People of all ages flock to these displays to admire the craftsmanship and creativity of the lantern makers.

To celebrate this traditional festival. China office had some special events. We ate sticky rice balls, made red paper cut and wrote down new year wishes. On this Lantern Festival, we wish you and your family be united and filled with happiness and health.
