Introduction

The client is a global leader in connect home fitness products, with a large customer base in US, Europe and Asia. They have been in the business of fitness for over 70 years and as a consequence they have developed a significant range of products, manufactured and delivered by an Asia-based supply chain. With rapid growth comes many supply chain challenges that can be difficult to maintain without permanent feet on the ground local to that supply chain.

About our client

The client has experienced rapid growth in their market with over 500 stores and two e-tail sites selling consumer and household goods. With the trend in the consumer moving from off-line to online for consumer goods, our client needed to offer a substantial product range with a reputation for high performance and quality. We were chosen to partner with them on this strategy due to our background in delivering on multiple categories for leading retailers and brands.

Why did they need us?

Typical of high growth businesses, the need is to develop product quickly and cost-effectively to maintain relevance within the market segment. This can often lead to less attention on supply chain maintenance, and results in lost sales due to delayed shipments or product quality issues.

We were approached following a referral from an established customer, and were asked to review and propose a program of:

  • Supply chain rationalisation
  • Recovery of production backlog
  • Improvement of product quality

We were also asked to work with them on building a strategy that will ensure that the supply base will continue to deliver high quality products, on time and at a competitive price in the future.

Why did they choose us?

We performed a detailed analysis of their supply chain to understand the gaps and opportunities for improvement. We then presented a proposal to our client that would ‘recover’ the challenges within a timeframe they felt was right for their business, and that would allow them to maximise their sales potential while working on these changes. 

What solution did we create?

With the proposal agreed and working group established, we positioned a team of experts into the suppliers and started working on delivering the agreed strategy.

 

What were the results?

Working closely with the brand and the supplier and acting as their representative on the ground, we were able to deliver the project ahead of time and under budget, delivering the best quality range of products on time at a price that allows our customer to grow their market penetration.

As a result of the success of this project, we have been asked to embed a team of experts into the wider supply chain to deliver the same strategy and allow the brand to focus on product roadmap and market growth.
